‘Thinking Ahead’ – FREE Event for Families
Programme encourages families to prepare for older years
Dublin 16th August 2017: Castle Homecare, the Irish-owned and managed home care services provider for older people, has paired with broadcaster Brendan Courtney to launch ‘Thinking Ahead, a series of FREE talks aimed at encouraging older people and their families to plan for the future.
Hosted by Castle Homecare, the event will take place in the Stillorgan Park Hotel on Thursday 28th September 2017 as part of Age Action’s Positive Aging Week and will be officially opened by the Minister of State for Mental Health and Older People Jim Daly.
Thinking Ahead will consist of a series of talks to inform, educate and entertain the audience on matters such as future proofing your home, the Fair Deal Scheme and what it means for home care and security for older people – online and offline.
Commenting on the event, Christine King, Co-founder and Managing Director of Castle Homecare said: “We are delighted to host this our ‘Thinking Ahead’ event which we believe will offer invaluable information for people to help them plan for their future.  We see people every day at Castle Homecare, who come to us in a crisis situation and this event is about helping people to put the systems in place before they reach that point.  We are grateful to all of the amazing speakers who are joining us to be a part of it, especially Brendan Courtney who has been a huge advocate for older people in Ireland since the broadcast of his documentary about his father. We believe that older people deserve to choose how they live their lives after retirement and our aim with this event is to empower them with the knowledge to ensure that they can be part of the discussion.”

Brendan Courtney added: “I’m thrilled to be a part of Castle Homecare’s Thinking Ahead event and to help launch ‘Thinking Ahead’. I hope to share my personal story to give insight into the challenges faced with ageing. This event is an incredible way to provide valuable information for the public and to inform the audience about measures that can be taken to best prepare for the future.”

Justin Moran, Age Action said: “We are delighted to be a part of this event with Castle Homecare as part of Bank of Ireland Positive Ageing Week. The event itself embodies what Bank of Ireland Positive Ageing Week is all about. It promotes the positive aspects of growing older, which comes to us all and empowers people with the knowledge so they are prepared and can choose how they would like to live in to the future.”
